I'm Farrell Lockett.  I wasn't sure how much to divulge, but here goes...

Some in my family had a hard time accepting I was LGBTQ+.  The religious beliefs that my parents had - the same beliefs that they instilled in me- stated clearly that that behavior was wrong.  Fearing that I was destined for hell, I was subjected to conversion therapy, ridicule, rejection, and oppression.  Fervent religious conviction was at the root of my mistreatment and used as justification for my abuse.  

Struggling to cope I rebelled, mostly against the way I was being treated, but also against a God that would support such treatment as a prerequisite for their love.  I never really thought that being LGBT was a sin; it always felt like the God of my being and the one they were trying to impose on me were not the same, I just couldn't explain how. However, the influence of and connection to religion, especially as imposed on me from those that mattered most, was too strong of a hold to shake.  As a response to the feeling of being out of connection with the "real" God, I was promiscuous, engaged in heavy drug use, and joined a gang.  This was all in addition to other self destructive behavior.  However, being condemned to hell because of my lifestyle is actually what ignited my willingness to explore another truth.  What did I have to lose? 

As I matured and evolved, I began to see and understand the truth of my existence.  There were people that knew a God more like the one that I felt was at the foundation of my being, even when I didn't have the language or knowledge to articulate it.  They were sharing a message of love and acceptance that was reassuring, empowering, inclusive, and most of all, true.  

Now that I understand the truth of who I am, I am more confident, fulfilled, and successful than ever.  I am also a certified life coach ready to impart tools and techniques to you that will emphasize a spiritual connection to God; a change from the controlling, fear mongering, and oppressive nature of traditional faith.
